Job Title : Senior Structures Engineer (P.E)

  • Job Type: Full-Time - Direct Placement
  • Pay : $120000 - 180000/H


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structures Engineer (P.E.) with comprehensive FDOT bridge and transportation structures experience to join our growing structures team. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise across multiple bridge structure types consistent with FDOT Professional Engineering Firm prequalification requirements, along with strong leadership and project delivery capabilities.

The Senior Structures Engineer will serve in a lead technical role, supporting planning, analysis, design, and construction support for complex bridge and structural projects, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage FDOT bridge and transportation structure projects from concept development through construction
  • Serve as Engineer of Record and/or lead designer for bridge and structural projects of varying size and complexity
  • Perform and oversee structural analysis and design for a broad range of FDOT bridge structure types, including:
  • Conventional bridges (prestressed concrete, slab, girder, and steel bridges)
  • Complex bridge types, including segmental, curved, skewed, and long-span structures
  • Bridge widenings, rehabilitations, repair, and load rating projects
  • Retaining walls, sound walls, box culverts, and miscellaneous transportation structures
  • Prepare and review structural design calculations, technical reports, construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including FDOT Structures Design Guidelines (SDG), AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, and FDOT manuals and procedures
  • Coordinate closely with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic, and construction engineering disciplines
  • Provide construction phase services, including shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, field reviews, and constructability support
  • Act as a technical liaison with FDOT Districts, local agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior structural engineers and designers
  • Support proposal preparation, technical approaches, and business development pursuits related to FDOT prequalified work types


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licence in the county of Florida (required)
  • 8–10 years of progressive structural engineering experience with significant emphasis on FDOT bridge projects
  • Demonstrated experience consistent with FDOT Professional Engineering Firm prequalification requirements, including experience in multiple bridge structure categories such as:
  • Conventional bridge design
  • Complex bridge design or rehabilitation
  • Bridge widening and reconstruction
  • Ancillary transportation structures (retaining walls, sound walls, culverts)
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record or lead designer on FDOT bridge projects is strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • FDOT Structures Design Guidelines (SDG)
  • AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software commonly used in FDOT bridge design
  • Experience working with FDOT District offices and navigating FDOT project delivery and quality control processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
