Position Summary

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting full enrollment and planning and administering family engagement services for children and families. Services must be coordinated with staff in other program content areas and must include ongoing assessment of the quality of services provided.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Work one-on-one and in-group settings to support children and families in goal planning.
  • Provide training and technical assistance, oversight, and coordination of family services for Head Start preschool classrooms and program staff.
  • Serve as a resource to parents and the community, including occasional presentations on and off site.
  • Conduct student family partnership agreements and needs assessments.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and reporting systems, including service area plan, ChildPlus, schedules, timelines, and policies and procedures, in accordance with FSIP, Inc. Head Start Policies and Procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Implement and monitor ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance) policies and procedures.
  • Plan parent and family engagement/involvement activities with site staff.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate community-based meetings as required.
  • Actively participate in meetings, which may include management, teaching team, center, committee, parent, parent policy, family reviews, city/state, agency, and board meetings.
  • Assess and prioritize work, analyze tasks, define problems, gather relevant data, determine appropriate courses of action, and meet established deadlines.
  • Apply and interpret relevant federal, state, county, local, and tribal laws, regulations, and requirements as they relate to program responsibilities.
  • Work effectively in cross-cultural settings, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and cultural responsiveness.
  • Use positive, developmentally appropriate approaches to guide and redirect child behavior.
  • Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education; or a bachelor’s degree or higher with coursework equivalent to an Early Childhood Education major.
  • Maintain or must obtain within 90 days of employment:
    • Current CPR/First Aid certification
    • Negative TB screening
  • Physical exam required within 30 days.
  • Knowledge or previous experience with Head Start.

Work Environment:

 

Work is generally performed in an office, school-based setting, or community environment with moderate noise levels. Travel to Tribal communities is required.
