CNC Machinist/Setup/Operator

CNC Machinist/Setup/Operator for an expanding machine shop in Gilroy, CA

This is a full-time position for the day- shift with an immediate opening.  Day shift is 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

• Setup/Operate CNC Machines.
• Recognize trends in machine performance and ability to make necessary adjustments to maintain stringent part requirements
• Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reductions, processes, quality and productivity

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a minimum of 5 years setup and operations experience
• Experience and knowledge of the capabilities and differences of various CNC Machines and their controls
• Knowledge cutting aluminum and stainless steel
• Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators
• Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, speeds and feeds
• Complies with established safety directives and protocols
• Strong work ethic and team player
• Able to set up and maintain a well organized, safe and clean environment
• Ability to function calmly in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities simultaneously
• Able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature; to be able to modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to sit, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
