About the Opportunity
A well-established consulting engineering firm in the Dallas market is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design on healthcare projects. The role offers a defined growth path, strong project pipeline, and the opportunity to work on hospital, medical center, and ambulatory care projects in the DFW region.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with demonstrated healthcare project experience to lead electrical design on complex hospital, medical center, and ambulatory care work. The right person combines technical depth in healthcare-grade electrical systems with the project-management discipline to deliver complete, code-compliant designs on time.
Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering design for healthcare projects including hospitals, medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient facilities
Design and specify power distribution systems including normal, emergency, and isolated power
Apply NFPA 99 (Healthcare Facilities Code) and NFPA 110 (Emergency and Standby Power Systems) compliance throughout design
Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting design, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage/communications infrastructure
Perform fault current analysis, arc flash studies, and coordination studies
Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural disciplines
Review and stamp construction documents for projects within scope of licensure
Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and construction administration
Mentor junior engineers
Support business development by participating in pursuits and client presentations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in MEP consulting (5+ years considered for exceptional candidates)
Documented healthcare project experience including patient-care environments
Working knowledge of NFPA 99, NFPA 110, NEC, and applicable state and local codes
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP
Strong communication skills and ability to lead design teams
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license, Texas preferred (or eligible for reciprocity)
LEED AP BD+C or equivalent sustainability credential
Experience with power systems analysis software (SKM Powertools, ETAP, or similar)
Familiarity with FGI Guidelines and healthcare facility code requirements
Project management experience including budget and schedule ownership
