Position Overview

Our Family Wealth Services Group is seeking a Tax Supervisor to lead and deliver high-quality tax compliance and planning services for high net-worth (HNW) individuals and family groups. This role focuses on complex individual income tax, fiduciary income tax, and transfer tax (gift and estate) matters, and includes technical review, client ownership for assigned relationships, staff development, and continuous improvement of tax processes and policies.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a professional who combines strong technical tax knowledge with sound judgment, critical thinking skills, and a client-focused mindset. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of client relationships and results, understands the level of effort required to meet client needs, and demonstrates professionalism in every interaction.

Essential Functions

  • Anticipate and satisfy assigned clients' needs across the annual compliance cycle and related advisory matters.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients and serve as a regular point of contact for tax matters affecting individuals and trusts/estates.

  • Plan, supervise, and complete multiple client engagements, balancing several larger, complex engagements alongside smaller engagements throughout the year.

  • Prepare and review individual, fiduciary, and transfer tax returns.

  • Identify and evaluate tax planning opportunities for high-income taxpayers and family groups.

  • Research, analyze, and communicate federal and state tax matters affecting high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, and family groups.

  • Monitor new developments in technical tax areas affecting HNW individuals and trusts/estates; assess impact on clients and firm positions.

  • Supervise staff including training, mentoring, and providing feedback on a regular basis.

  • Participate in functional operations of the firm and tax practice as assigned.

  • Participate in business development including cultivating referral networks and strategic relationships.

Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or a professional tax environment, including at least 2-3 years focused on high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates. Experience with tax compliance and planning including Forms 1040, 1041, 706, and 709 is required.

  • Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA).

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CCH Axcess products.

  • Familiarity with estate and trust administration.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Occasional non-local travel may be required no more than 5-10% of the year, depending on your client base.

  • Occasional lifting of boxes and/or paperwork up to 25 pounds.

Note: The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
