Business Litigation Attorney

Highly regarded boutique litigation firm in downtown Minneapolis that is looking to add a Business Litigation Associate Attorney to its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2–6 years of complex civil and/or commercial litigation experience who wants meaningful responsibility, sophisticated work, and the chance to work closely with experienced litigators.

The firm handles challenging disputes involving businesses, individuals, and organizations across a range of industries. Associates are given the opportunity to be actively involved in cases from the early stages of a dispute through resolution and trial.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed legal research and apply applicable law to complex factual and legal issues
• Draft substantive pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, discovery-related documents, and other court filings
• Handle written discovery, including developing discovery strategies and addressing contested discovery issues
• Assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
• Take and defend depositions commensurate with experience
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
• Participate in court appearances, hearings, mediations, and other proceedings
• Work closely with partners and other attorneys to evaluate cases and develop litigation strategy

Qualifications:

• 2–6 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with experience with complex civil litigation and/or commercial/business litigation
• Strong academic performance
• Federal judicial clerkship experience preferred
• Excellent attention to detail, judgment, and communication skills
• Active Minnesota bar admission, or eligibility for admission
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Experience with discovery and motion practice
• Deposition, hearing, mediation, and/or trial experience preferred
