Job Description
Job Summary:
The PSA is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the department, ensuring the timely and accurate check-in and scheduling of clinic
appointments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance information; scheduling, canceling,
and rescheduling appointments; confirming appointments; and assisting patientswith general inquiries.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Greet and check in patients upon arrival.
- Obtain and verify patient demographic and health insurance information.
- Ensure patient demographic and insurance information is current in all applicable systems.
- Verify patient health plan eligibility and document verification.
- Confirm appointments scheduled for the next business day.
- Assist patients with general inquiries and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Escalate patient concerns to department leadership when necessary.
- Process referrals and ensure appointments are scheduled according to departmental guidelines.
- Communicate patient concerns and questions to clinic staff for follow-up during appointments.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and clinic lobby.
- Participate actively in department meetings and daily huddles.
- Accurately and timely document patient communications in the EHR and other applicable systems/spreadsheets.
- Collect co-payments following established organizational and departmental procedures.
- Open and close payment batches, complete reconciliations, and submit payments and documentation daily.
- Assist with training new staff and provide necessary resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience required.
Skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet established deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with patients, providers, vendors, and employees at all organizational levels.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with computers, software applications, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Big Bear Lake, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.81 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
