Ready to Be More Than the Tax Expert in the Room?
Lifetime Tax Advisors is looking for a Tax Manager who brings together two things that aren't always easy to find: deep technical tax expertise and the ability to become a genuinely trusted advisor to clients.
You'll manage sophisticated tax relationships with business owners, high-net-worth individuals, and successful professionals—helping them understand not just their tax situation today, but the decisions and strategies that can help them get where they want to go.
This is not a compliance-only role. We're looking for someone who can see around corners, communicate clearly, develop people, and proactively bring solutions to the table.
Who We Are
Lifetime Tax Advisors is part of Lifetime Cos., an à la carte family office providing comprehensive wealth management, tax advisory, and insurance services.
Our core focus is simple: We love being trusted advisors as we navigate the complexities of our clients' success.
We operate using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), creating clear accountability, systematic execution, and a team working toward shared goals.
What You'll Do
Own Client Relationships
- Serve as the primary trusted advisor for a portfolio of approximately 50–100 clients
- Work with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, entrepreneurs, and multi-entity organizations
- Translate complex tax issues into clear, actionable recommendations
- Proactively identify tax planning opportunities rather than waiting for clients to ask
- Understand clients' short- and long-term goals and help them plan accordingly
- Navigate difficult or sensitive client conversations with confidence and professionalism
- Build relationships that extend well beyond annual filing season
Lead Complex Tax Strategy & Compliance
- Handle complex individual, partnership, corporate, and multi-entity tax situations
- Apply federal tax regulations and reporting requirements, including international considerations for U.S. persons
- Review returns prepared by staff for accuracy and planning opportunities
- Advise on entity structures, real estate taxation, multi-state exposure, and other sophisticated tax matters
- Stay current on tax law changes and proactively communicate their impact
- Represent clients before the IRS when necessary
Lead People & Projects
- Train, supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals
- Provide technical guidance and maintain quality standards across client work
- Manage multiple client projects and priorities simultaneously
- Support business restructurings and transaction implementation
- Identify inefficiencies and help improve workflows
- Document successful processes so they can be replicated across the organization
Help Build What's Next
- Help Lifetime continue evolving from traditional compliance into proactive advisory relationships
- Collaborate with Lifetime's Wealth Management and Insurance teams
- Identify opportunities to provide greater value across the broader client relationship
- Contribute ideas that improve how the Tax division operates and serves clients
What We're Looking For
- CPA, EA, Attorney, or equivalent professional credential with the ability to represent clients before the IRS and sign tax returns
- 6–8+ years of progressive income tax experience
- Public accounting or professional services background
- Experience with complex individual, business entity, partnership, and/or multi-entity taxation
- Experience directly owning relationships with high-net-worth individuals and business owners
- Strong knowledge of federal tax policy, regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements
- Experience leading and developing team members
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with professional tax software such as UltraTax, Lacerte, CCH, or similar
- Based in the DFW area or willing to relocate to the Rockwall area
What Will Set You Apart
- Experience advising founders, entrepreneurs, and other non-tax professionals
- Real estate professional status and passive activity loss expertise
- Estate, trust, and gift tax experience
- Multi-state tax experience
- Corporate, partnership, and/or international tax compliance
- ASC 740 experience
- Combination of public accounting and industry experience
- TaxDome or similar practice management experience
- Accounting proficiency with QuickBooks, Sage, ResMan, Xero, or similar
- Strong project management and process improvement experience
The Person Who Will Thrive Here
You're technically strong, but you don't hide behind technical language.
You know how to tell a client what matters, what you recommend, and why. You're proactive enough that clients call you before making a major decision—not after. You take ownership, improve processes that aren't working, and enjoy developing the people around you.
Most importantly, you want to be an advisor, not simply the person preparing or reviewing the return.
That distinction is central to the profile Trace outlined.
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000–$150,000+ base salary, depending on experience and fit
- Generous performance-based bonus structure
- 25+ days off, including holidays
- Office closes at 3:00 PM on Fridays
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Professional development support, including CPE, certifications, and conferences
- Career growth within a growing multi-family office platform
- Family-oriented culture
This position is based in Rockwall, Texas and primarily on-site, with hybrid consideration for exceptional candidates.
