Cath Lab Tech Job Overview

The Cath Lab Technologist plays a critical role in performing endovascular procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases. This position requires skilled use of high-technology equipment under the guidance of qualified physicians, and involves monitoring patient hemodynamic status, documenting during procedures, and assisting in the sterile environment of the lab.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures, including cardiac stent placements and catheterizations.
• Monitor hemodynamic status of patients during procedures and document findings accurately.
• Prepare access sites and assist in maintaining the sterile field during procedures.
• Set up and operate various equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and isolation precautions.
• Respond to life-threatening arrhythmias and actively participate in emergency management efforts.
• Maintain skills and knowledge through attending mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and completing competency assessments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, adhering to ACC requirements and hospital protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Experience: A minimum of 1.5-2 years of experience in a Diagnostic Radiology setting is preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications:
  • Registered by the A.R.R.T. (R.T.(R)) required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required within probationary period.
  • WV Medical Imaging License required for operating fluoroscopy machines.

Physical Requirements

This role may require frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs, with a maximum lifting capacity of 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Experience in diagnostic and interventional settings, including cardiac catheterization labs, is essential for success in this position. Familiarity with electrophysiology (EP) labs and interventional radiology is preferred.

Additional Information

Shifts may vary, and candidates should be prepared for weekend and holiday requirements as part of on-call duties. Scrubs will be provided by the employer. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Cerner is an advantage.
