Job Description
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
The optimal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong instrumentation and electrical expertise. Experience with PLCs, furnace controls, sensors of all types, lasers, and encoders all critical.
General Description / Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the plant’s equipment and machinery is maintained to ensure continuous operation of material to avoid loss of revenue.
- Troubleshoot faulty equipment and systems containing either electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components or a combination of them.
- Provide technical direction to other employees to ensure all equipment is being used to meet or exceed design specifications.
- Ensure coordination of equipment repairs with production personnel to minimize downtime.
- Strive for efficient workflow and compliance with all safety guidelines including lock out tag out procedures.
- Be available for work schedule changes according to workload or manpower requirements.
- Lift product with crane, hoist or forklift. The certification and use of a powered forklift is required for moving materials or equipment and emptying waste containers.
- Utilize company software / systems for work orders, parts requests and preventative maintenance tracking.
- Maintain equipment and systems controlled by PLC’s.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Train new employees for any of the job duties and responsibilities when required.
- Observe all company policies and procedures.
- Complete time sheets and all required reports/documents on a daily basis.
Additionally, employees are expected to abide by all internal control & compliance practices to:
- Safeguard assets from theft and misuse.
- Ensure segregation of duties to minimize fraud.
- Comply with business ethics, applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records.
Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Maintenance Technical experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Prior work experience in a lean manufacturing/warehouse environment strongly desired.
- Ability to read, write and speak English on material labels, and written/verbal work instructions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and manuals.
- Electrical, welding, hydraulics, pneumatic experience required.
- Experience with quality/continuous improvement initiatives desired.
- Ability and willingness to effectively prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
- Pass a pre-employment drug and physical screening exam.
- Demonstrated experience with math and analytical skills related to measurements and dimensions required.
- Perform each essential duty satisfactorily as demonstrated by written, oral and hands-on testing.
Physical Requirements:
- Requirements for talking and hearing functions for daily communication purposes.
- Requirements to occasionally move, lift, feel, or handle products.
- Requirements to occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Requirements to stand or sit during, or for, the extent of the shift.
- Requirements to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
- Daily exposure to moving mechanical and high-voltage electrical devices.
- Seasonal exposure to elevated, but not harmful, heat.
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions.
- Occasional exposure to, but not harmful, fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasional exposure to elevated, but not harmful, noise levels.
This is a union position with a very strong set of negotiated benefits, including 401(k) match and generous PTO. Shift flexibility is required, as specific shift assignments may change by seniority selection. Currently hiring for the day shift maintenance team, working 5 days/wk, 8 hrs/day. Could also be assigned to an operating shift, working days or nights, 3 days/wk, 12 hrs/day.
