Seeking a Registered Dietitian to support patients receiving radiation oncology services in our Anchorage & Mat-Su Valley clinics.
We believe nutrition support is an important component of comprehensive oncology care and are committed to ensuring our patients receive the resources they need throughout treatment and recovery.
Essential Functions:
- Perform nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide nutrition education and counseling for oncology patients and their caregivers.
- Monitor weight trends, nutritional status, hydration status, and treatment-related side effects.
- Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Nursing staff, and other members of the care team.
- Provide recommendations regarding oral nutritional supplements and symptom management strategies.
- Document patient encounters and recommendations within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in patient care coordination activities as appropriate.
- Travel between Anchorage and Valley clinic locations as needed.
Education, Certification and Licensure:
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required.
- Current Alaska licensure or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
- Maintain professional liability insurance and provide proof of coverage upon request.
- Compliance with annual mandatory education requirements.
- Compliance with immunization requirements.
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical dietitian experience preferred.
- Experience providing outpatient nutrition counseling preferred.
- Experience caring for cancer patients receiving radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy strongly preferred.
- Oncology nutrition experience preferred.
- Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) credential preferred, but not required.
Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy principles and evidence-based nutrition practices.
- Ability to assess nutritional risk and develop individualized nutrition care plans.
- Strong patient education and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Work Environment:
- Outpatient radiation oncology clinic setting.
- Frequent interaction with oncology patients and caregivers.
- Occasional travel between Anchorage and Valley clinic locations.
- Exposure to patients with acute and chronic illness.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
- Ability to utilize computer systems and electronic medical records for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Position Details:
- Contract position.
- Flexible schedule.
- Approximately 4 clinic days per month, with potential for expansion based on patient and clinic needs.
- Coverage at both Anchorage and Valley clinic locations.
- Compensation commensurate with experience.
- Mileage reimbursement between clinic locations.
