Travel Certified Surgical Technologist (Temp-to-Perm)

Location: Omaha, NE 68114
Position Type: Travel / Temp-to-Perm
Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for extension or permanent placement
Schedule: 40 hours per week – Night Shift

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support the Operating Room team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Surgical Technologist will assist with surgical procedures, maintain sterile technique, prepare operating rooms, and ensure the surgical team has the appropriate instruments and supplies throughout each procedure.

This position offers the potential for contract extension or permanent placement based on performance and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures.
  • Set up sterile instruments, supplies, equipment, and surgical tables according to procedure requirements.
  • Maintain strict sterile technique and comply with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Assist surgeons and surgical staff during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout procedures.
  • Perform and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgery.
  • Prepare, handle, and properly identify surgical specimens according to facility policies.
  • Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and application of surgical drapes.
  • Ensure required instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning properly.
  • Operate and assist with surgical equipment as appropriate to the procedure.
  • Assist with operating room turnover, cleaning, restocking, and preparation for subsequent cases.
  • Follow established hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures and equipment.
  • Support a safe and professional environment for pediatric patients and their families when applicable.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia staff, and other members of the surgical team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
  • NBSTSA certification preferred/required according to facility requirements.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Previous Operating Room/Surgical Technologist experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, equipment, and infection prevention practices.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week on night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous pediatric or children's hospital experience.
  • Experience with a variety of surgical specialties.
  • Strong familiarity with surgical instrumentation and operating-room procedures.
