POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Carpenter plays a key role in retail and commercial construction projects, performing demolition, framing, millwork, fixture installation, cabinetry, FRP and laminate work, gondola shelving, décor installations, and commercial door installation. Working alongside the Lead Carpenter and project team, you'll help deliver high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This position requires hands-on commercial construction experience, strong craftsmanship, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to travel and work primarily night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform demolition, framing, millwork, FRP, laminate, drywall, and cabinetry installation.
- Install fixtures, gondola shelving, décor elements, and commercial doors.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
- Assist with project layouts, measurements, and material preparation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Collaborate with field leadership and crew members to meet production goals.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and material needs.
- Deliver quality workmanship while supporting a positive and accountable team culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Retail and/or commercial carpentry experience required.
- Strong knowledge of laminate, FRP, T-Bar ceilings, drywall, and cabinetry installation.
- Experience working on active commercial job sites with multiple trades and tight deadlines.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and layout plans.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and at heights.
- Must be willing to travel and work night shifts approximately
90% of the time.
Preferred
- Commercial door hanging experience.
- Steel stud framing experience.
- Millwork and finish carpentry experience.
- Experience working in retail environments such as Walmart, Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, CVS, or similar large-scale retail stores.
