Introduction

The Global Facility Management (FM) Process Intern will partner closely with the Global FM Process Owner to support the development, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of global facility management processes, standards, and technology solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in global real estate and facilities management operations while contributing to strategic transformation initiatives that impact facilities teams, supplier partners, and employees worldwide.

The intern will support the design and optimization of end-to-end facility management processes, assist with digital transformation initiatives, enhance process documentation and governance materials, analyze operational performance data, and collaborate with global stakeholders to improve consistency, efficiency, compliance, sustainability, and workplace experience across the organization.

Your role and responsibilities

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the modernization, standardization, and simplification of global FM processes to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
  • Participate in process mapping, workflow analysis, root cause identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing process narratives, SOPs, playbooks, governance frameworks, and process documentation.
  • Research industry best practices and emerging facility management trends to support innovation and operational excellence.
  • Help identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce process variation, and improve compliance.

Technology & Digital Transformation Support

  • Collaborate with technology and business teams to support enhancements to FM platforms and workplace technologies, including TRIRIGA, RE360, Maximo, and related systems.
  • Assist in gathering business requirements, documenting user stories, and supporting solution design activities.
  • Help track enhancement requests, technology defects, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation activities associated with digital transformation and process automation initiatives.

Data Analytics & Performance Reporting

  • Analyze operational and process performance data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and improvement recommendations.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, scorecards, and presentations that communicate business performance and project status.
  • Develop KPI and SLA reporting related to service delivery, work order management, productivity, customer satisfaction, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Assist with data validation, trend analysis, and executive reporting.

Training, Communications & Change Management

  • Assist in developing training materials, user guides, process documentation, and educational content for global FM teams and supplier partners.
  • Support change management activities associated with process, technology, and organizational initiatives.
  • Participate in FM stakeholder communications, awareness campaigns, and training sessions.
  • Help coordinate knowledge-sharing activities, communities of practice, and best-practice forums.
  • Support the creation of communication plans and adoption strategies to drive successful implementation.

Global Collaboration & Governance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Facilities Management, Real Estate, Workplace Services, Safety, Security, Procurement, Finance, Technology, and Supplier Partners.
  • Contribute to initiatives focused on operational excellence, compliance, risk management, sustainability, and workplace experience improvements.
  • Support global process governance and policy alignment activities.

Innovation, Automation & AI Enablement

  • Research Facility Management related automation opportunities, AI capabilities, and workplace innovations applicable to facility management operations.
  • Support pilot programs and innovation initiatives designed to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI, analytics, and automation to improve decision-making and operational performance.
  • Support development of innovation roadmaps and continuous improvement recommendations.

Required education

High School Diploma/GED

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Business Administration
  • Facilities Management
  • Corporate Real Estate
  • Or a related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in process improvement, operational excellence, and business transformation.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create presentations, process documentation, training materials, and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of process mapping, workflow analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Interest in facility management, corporate real estate, workplace services, or business operations.
  • Familiarity with enterprise technologies such as TRIRIGA, Maximo, Power BI, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, automation, and digital transformation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional, and collaborative environment.

Supplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
