Job Description
PRIMARY ROLE:
The Strength Coach is a Dynamo Hockey Club employee who serves as the club's on-site strength and
conditioning lead, responsible for executing the performance and strength training programming created
remotely by Suarez Sport and Orthopedic Physical Therapy (“Suarez PTP”) under the Independent
Contractor Agreement between Dynamo Hockey Club and Suarez PTP. This individual delivers Suarez
PTP's programming on the floor between Coach Martin's monthly in-person check-ins, ensures athlete
safety and accurate execution of programming, and maintains clear communication with Suarez PTP
staff.
ONBOARDING
Prior to beginning independent work on the floor at Dynamo, the Strength Coach is required to complete
a shadowing period with the Suarez Performance team [confirm duration/location — e.g., a set number
of sessions observed at a Suarez PTP facility or alongside Coach Martin on-site] to become familiar with
Suarez PTP's programming style, coaching cues, and safety protocols before assuming full responsibility
for Dynamo sessions.
AGE GROUP COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
The Strength Coach's level of hands-on instruction will vary by age group, as follows:
• 9U-12U: Fully hands-on. The Strength Coach provides direct, hands-on instruction and active
encouragement throughout each session.
• 13U-15U: Developing independence. Athletes receive instruction as needed and are coached
toward growing independence in executing programming.
• 18U-Junior: Independent with oversight. Athletes work independently through programming;
the Strength Coach provides oversight and must be able to answer athlete questions regarding
exercises.
PRIMARY DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS
Program Execution
1. Complete the required shadowing period with the Suarez Performance team prior to beginning
independent work on the floor at Dynamo.
2. Deliver the performance and strength training sessions programmed by Coach June and coach
Martin for the 9U-12U (one session/week), 13U-15U (two sessions/week), and 18U/Junior (three
sessions/week) Programs.
3. Set up equipment and facility space needed for each session in accordance with Suarez PTP's
programming.
4. Lead athletes through prescribed warm-ups, strength/performance work, and cooldowns,
following exercise order, load, and volume as specified.
5. Flag any exercise that cannot be safely administered (due to equipment, space, or athlete
limitation) to Coach June and Coach Martin prior to the session, where possible.
Communication & Reporting
6. Communicate attendance, session completion, and any modifications made on the floor to
Coach June/Coach Martin on an agreed cadence (e.g., weekly).
7. Report any athlete injuries, near-misses, or complaints immediately to Coach Martin and to the
Recipient's athletic training/medical staff, consistent with the Agreement's confidentiality and
coordination provisions.
8. Support Coach Martin during monthly in-person check-ins by providing context on how
programming has been running day-to-day.
9. Relay athlete or parent feedback about programming to Coach June/Coach Martin as needed.
Safety & Environment
10. Maintain a safe, positive training environment consistent with Dynamo Hockey Club's facility
policies.
11. Confirm that any athlete flagged through concussion testing or physical therapy triage (per
Sections 1(b)–(c) and 2(b)–(c) of the Agreement) follows Suarez PTP's return-to-play guidance
before resuming full training.
12. Clean and put away equipment after each session per facility protocol.
Administrative
13. Assist with logging attendance and basic session data as requested by Suarez PTP for use in
athletic performance testing and reporting.
14. Maintain confidentiality of athlete health, testing, and performance data consistent with Section
10 (Confidentiality) of the Agreement.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
15. Background in strength & conditioning, athletic training, coaching, or a related field preferred;
[confirm minimum degree/certification requirements, e.g., CSCS, CPT].
16. Current CPR/First Aid certification required.
17. Ability to follow written strength/performance programming accurately and communicate
clearly with remote coaching staff.
18. Familiarity with basic training equipment and facility safety protocols.
19. USA Hockey and Safe Sport background check required!
