Production Lead

Summary/Objective

The production lead sets up, controls, and maintains rotational molding machines and accessories. Lead will perform preliminary post-production work on molded parts. In addition to their own duties, leads will direct other employees through their daily routines.

Essential Functions

·        Sets up and breaks down molds, machines, and work area to start production cycle

·        Controls and adjust machine settings

·        Measures and feeds plastic resin into molds

·        Inspects parts and materials with precision and measuring tools

·        Inspects finished product and removal of excess flashing

·        Resolves/repairs production and personnel related issues

·        Checks output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws

·        Keeps records of approved and defective units or final products

·        Maintains activity logs

·        Correctly completes production sheets

·        Coordinates lunches and breaks to avoid impacting production

·        Adheres to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear/PPE)

·        Adheres to company standards for shop-wide housekeeping practices

·        Oversee/participate in tasks given out by plant manager or assistant plant manager

·        Maintain daily production reports and turn in at end of shift

·        Perform random QC checks throughout shift

·        Responsible for production workers and making sure their performance is up to standard

·        Train/provide work direction and coordinate assignments

·        Responsible for all messes and clean up before shift ends

·        Responsible for filling out accident reports and turning into HR or plant manager

·        Notify maintenance if there is a safety hazard or a repair needed on equipment

·        Needs to communicate with lead person of the following shift: tasks, problems, etc

·        Document any notes or problems throughout shift

·        Responsible for safety/rules enforcement

• Must be able to identify the differences of all commonly used plastics within all aspects of the process, from beginning to end.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odors and/or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be elevated.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Experience

 ·        Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math

·        Forklift certification

Pay will depend on experience but will be starting pay will be $24.25.
