Job Title: Technician I
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Project: WMSS
Start: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technician I to support daily waste management and recycling operations. The successful candidate will work directly alongside a senior employee to complete daily tasks and maintain safe, organized, and efficient operations.

This position involves working outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Candidates must be comfortable working in the elements and performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds.

Safety training will be provided for the first two days before the employee begins field work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, organize, and move various waste and recycling materials.
• Handle non-hazardous and limited quantities of hazardous waste, including:
• • Scrap wood
  • Plastics
  • Cardboard
  • Paintline waste
• Maintain accurate records and logs for waste and recyclable materials.
• Operate forklifts and other trade tools as needed.
• Follow all waste management, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Maintain organized areas for non-hazardous waste, hazardous waste, universal waste, and recyclable materials.
• Work collaboratively with WM team members and CAT employees.
• Follow the direction and instructions of the immediate supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous forklift operating experience is required. Forklift certification will be provided by WM.
• Experience using other trade tools is preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.

PPE Requirements

Workers are required to provide their own steel-toe safety boots that meet the following requirements:

• Leather construction
• Minimum 6-inch ankle height

Additional required PPE will be provided by WM.

Training & Onboarding

The following requirements must be completed as part of the onboarding process:

• Background check through Cisive
• Drug screen through Cisive
• Hazwoper training – provided by WM
• Forklift certification – provided by WM
• Two days of safety training before beginning field work

Site Access Requirement

A photo ID is required for check-in with CAT Security and to receive a site badge.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in the elements.
• Ability to perform routine physical tasks associated with waste management and material handling.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively under the direction of a supervisor.
