About this job
Job Description
Come join our team at the Arc of Greater Brockton where you can help change a student's life! As a Skills Trainer with the DESE/DDS Residential Prevention Program, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by providing individualized support that helps them succeed. Working closely with families and as part of the student’s support team, you will help children and young adults ages 6–21 work toward specific goals identified in their Support Plan. Skills Training may take place at home and in the community. These skills focus on building independence, communication, safety awareness, daily living skills, functional behaviors, social skills, and physical activities/excercise along with participation in community activities. Through consistent, hands-on support and skill-building, you can help students overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to stay connected to their families, schools, and communities while preventing the need for more restrictive services or placement.
The ideal Skills Trainer will work 3 hours per week focused mostly on the weekend and must have a valid MA Drivers License and their own car.
