Job Description
Seeking a Quality Compliance Specialist in Lansing, IL for a leading automotive coatings manufacturer.
This is an experienced position responsible for assisting the QA team in meeting customer demands and helping the company remain a market leader in automotive coatings. This team member performs calibration and GR&R, maintains and improves the quality management system across all company sites, manages internal and supplier audits, supports customer audits at each site, and leads compliance and quality improvement projects company-wide. The role also builds key customer, supplier, and interdepartmental relationships, and provides QA training for new hires and associate QA specialists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure processes and products are compliant with IATF16949 / ISO9001 quality standards and requirements at the responsible site
- Upgrade and implement the Quality Management System, drafting procedures or revising existing SOPs and training employees on new system requirements, or assisting other departments with SOP updates
- Maintain and organize the internal quality audit program and external audits with customers and third-party certification and regulatory bodies
- Schedule internal audits
- Schedule audits with the registrar
- Schedule, conduct, or manage the sample audit
- Report on audit findings and assist with corrective actions
- Train internal auditors on quality systems
- Manage corrective and preventive action plans
- Work with Purchasing and other groups to support supplier audits
- Complete self-assessments and audit surveys from the customer
- Assist with customer-requested audits and special audits at the responsible site
- Assist with other corporate and plant audits when requested
- Manage compliance projects at the responsible site with help from other members or groups, including calibration activities and records, the document control system, and MSA evaluations on inspection methods
- Assist with FMEA, APQP, and PPAP
- Participate in Quality Improvement Teams as a representative of the Quality department
- Prepare monthly reports on audit findings and corrective actions, the audit schedule (IATF16949 / ISO9001), and the formal audit report
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Required Qualifications:
- College degree in a science-related field
- 2+ years of applicable experience in chemical producing industry in Quality Compliance
- Able to handle paints and chemicals, including isocyanates, using required PPE
- Ability and desire to learn and improve
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Basic computer skills (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic AI knowledge and skills to utilize for work efficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced computer skills
- Experience with the ISO9001 Quality Management System; ideally IATF16949 experience as well.
