About the job

D & K Agri Sales installs, repairs, and rebuilds grain handling systems across southeast Nebraska. Bucket elevators, drag conveyors, augers, spouting, grain bins, and the structural steel that holds it all up. We work at elevators, feed mills, ethanol plants, and farms, and we run a fab shop between field jobs.

We're hiring millwrights at every level — from helpers who want to learn the trade to journeymen ready to run a crew.

Why people come here

Most millwright work in grain means living on the road. Ten days on, four off, a motel and a per diem. We don't do that. Our crews leave in the morning and are home for supper.

And unlike a plant maintenance job with a fixed shift, your earnings aren't capped. Overtime is available year round at time and a half, and harvest season means early starts and late finishes for anybody who wants them. How much you make is largely up to you.

What you'll do

• Install, repair, and rebuild bucket elevators (grain legs), drag conveyors, augers, and spouting
• Erect and repair grain bins, catwalks, support towers, and structural steel
• Perform shaft, bearing, belt, chain, and sprocket replacement and alignment
• Field welding, cutting, and fabrication — MIG, stick, and torch
• Read and work from prints and layout drawings
• Operate skid steers, telehandlers, forklifts, aerial lifts, and tractors with attachments
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems on customer equipment and get them running again
• Work safely at height and in confined spaces using proper fall protection and lockout procedures

What we're looking for

• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial or agricultural equipment
• Welding, cutting, rigging, structural steel, or millwright experience
• Comfortable working at height (grain legs run up to 150 feet) and in confined spaces
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors in Nebraska weather
• Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus, not a requirement — we'll help you get one if you want it
• Reliable, on time, and takes pride in the work

Related backgrounds we hire from: industrial maintenance mechanic, welder, fabricator, structural iron worker, grain elevator or feed mill maintenance, diesel or ag equipment technician, conveyor and material handling installer, farm equipment mechanic.

No grain experience? That's fine. If you can weld and you're not afraid of a ladder, we'll teach you the rest. Several of our people started without grain experience and now run crews.

Drive time is paid — your clock starts when you do, not when you reach the job site. Overtime paid at time and a half.

Physical requirements

This is demanding physical work. You'll climb ladders and stairs to heights up to 150 feet, lift and carry up to 100 lbs, work in confined spaces, and work outdoors in heat, cold, and wind. The environment includes grain dust and requires consistent use of fall protection and other PPE.

Safety

Grain handling has real hazards — falls, moving equipment, confined space, electrical. We train for it, equip for it, and anyone here has the authority to stop a job they don't believe is safe.
