QUALITY MANAGER – PRECISION MACHINING
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager with a strong background in a fast-paced job shop and precision machining environment, particularly manufacturing small-diameter, high-volume, precision-turned components.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on quality professional who can lead the Quality Department, work closely with Production and Engineering, and serve as a key resource for customers, suppliers, and the shop floor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
· Fast-paced job shop environment producing small-diameter, high-volume precision-turned components
· Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA)
· Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Ability to read, understand and interpret customer, aerospace/military, and third-party specifications and quality documentation
· Leadership of process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
· Problem resolution and communication with customers and suppliers
· Hands-on mechanical inspection using:
o Optical comparators
o Thread gages
o Indicators
o Micrometers
o CMMs
o Other precision inspection equipment
· Supervision, training and coordination of Quality Inspectors
· Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100
· Experience as an ISO/AS9100 Management Representative and/or Lead Auditor preferred
· Experience with PPAP, FMEA and AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
· Gage calibration, control and purchasing
· Review of outgoing quotations and incoming customer orders for quality requirements
· Provide hands-on quality training and technical support to employees on the shop floor
· Ability to identify quality problems, determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions
· Self-motivated, organized and strongly committed to continuous improvement
· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
· Occasional travel may be required
· Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be more than an administrative Quality Manager. We are looking for someone who is comfortable on the shop floor, understands precision machining and inspection, can work directly with machinists and inspectors, and can also manage customer and quality-system requirements.
This position requires a strong combination of technical quality expertise, leadership, problem-solving ability and hands-on experience.
