About this job
Job Description
About Us
Sutton Engineering is an MEP engineering firm specializing in data centers and mission-critical infrastructure. We're a fast-growing company built on collaboration, hospitality, and an uncompromising pursuit of excellence — and we're looking for someone who thrives in that kind of environment, not just tolerates it.
The Role
You'll work directly with our automations team to help build, test, and support the AI tools and automated workflows our team use every day.
This is a hands-on role. You won't be sitting in meetings talking about AI strategy — you'll be building the thing, trying it, finding out why it broke, and fixing it. Then you'll walk an end user through how to use it.
We're not looking for years of experience. We're looking for someone curious, organized, and comfortable poking at unfamiliar software until it makes sense.
What You'll Do
- Help build and test AI agents and automated workflows that support our project teams
- Maintain our Monday.com boards — project schedules, task lists, recruiting pipelines — and keep the data clean and current
- Build and troubleshoot automations connecting Monday.com, Outlook, Microsoft Bookings, and other tools
- Document how our internal tools work, in plain language people will actually read
- Support our staff when tools don't behave — answer questions, walk people through new features, gather feedback
- Track usage and performance so we know what's working and what isn't
- Take on pieces of larger technology projects as you grow into them
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with at least one AI assistant — Claude, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, ChatGPT, or similar. School projects, side projects, and personal use all count. We care that you've used these tools enough to have opinions about them.
- Comfort learning new software quickly. Variety matters more than depth here. If you've bounced between different platforms and figured them out on your own, that's the signal we're after.
- Strong written communication. A large part of this job is explaining technical things to people who don't want a technical answer.
- Attention to detail and follow-through. Our work supports live engineering projects with real deadlines.
- Willingness to ask questions. We'd rather you ask twice than guess once.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with Monday.com, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar project management platforms
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 — Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Power Automate
- Any exposure to writing prompts, building automations, scripting, or light coding
- Interest in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) industry — no prior experience needed
What You Don't Need
- A computer science degree
- Prior engineering or construction experience
- Years of professional experience
- Formal AI or machine learning training
We'll teach you the MEP context and the specifics of our systems. Bring curiosity and we'll handle the rest.
