Retail Store Manager

Dock Square Clothiers, a well-established specialty clothing retailer in the heart of Kennebunkport, Maine, is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organized Retail Store Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day operation of our Kennebunkport location.

Established in 1981, Dock Square Clothiers has built a strong reputation for quality apparel, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming shopping experience. We are looking for a hands-on manager who enjoys working with customers, leading a team, and taking ownership of store performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of daily retail store operations
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate sales associates
• Provide exceptional customer service and ensure that the entire team maintains high service standards
• Drive sales and help the store achieve sales and profitability goals
• Maintain attractive, organized, and well-merchandised sales floors and displays
• Oversee inventory receiving, transfers, replenishment, and stock organization
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control and loss prevention
• Ensure accurate use of the POS system and proper cash-handling procedures
• Help coordinate seasonal merchandising, promotions, and special events
• Maintain store appearance and ensure that operational standards are consistently met
• Communicate regularly with ownership regarding sales, staffing, inventory, customer feedback, and store needs
• Lead by example and be willing to work directly on the sales floor during busy periods

Qualifications

• Previous retail management or assistant management experience required
• Apparel or specialty retail experience strongly preferred
• Strong leadership and team-management skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience with inventory management and retail POS systems
• Ability to work independently and make sound day-to-day decisions
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal retail environment
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak summer periods as needed
