Phoenix Labor Group is seeking a skilled TIG Welder to join our team in the industrial sector, specifically in the Longview, Texas area. This opportunity is for one of our partners who operates in the construction, mining, forestry, forklift, and industrial machinery markets.
Job Overview
TIG Welder specializing in flux-core welding, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of structural and mechanical components in industrial field environments. Must demonstrate strong knowledge of welding procedures, equipment, safety codes, and regulations. The ideal candidate is professional, technically skilled, mechanically proficient, and capable of producing high-quality welds in demanding conditions. MSHA certification is a plus.
Job Description:
Read schematics and drawings, and weld large structural pieces of metal together, strictly adhere to company policy. Understand and follow pre-heat guide lines and policy, correct or re-accomplish all welds as directed by shift leads and other supervisory personnel.
Job Qualifications:
- Have knowledge and experience with stick and Flux core structural welding, 2G, 3G and, 4G, large wire, heavy metal manufacturing.
- Perform layout work and projects using blueprints, drawings, sketches, and other specifications.
- Coordinate with job site manager and leads to employ knowledge of metallurgy to determine materials and equipment most suitable for a welding project.
- Use clamps, brackets, cranes, forklifts, heating units and hangers to secure/handle welding materials as needed.
- Know how to remove slags, rough spots, etc. using grinders and other equipment from workpieces and surfaces.
- Understand metal cleaning and polishing of work pieces and surfaces.
- Welded on bases, modules, and tanks etc. using required welding methodologies
- Must be able to pass both urine drug screening, basic medical physical, and a welder’s lift/work assessment.
- Experience with caterpillar manufacturing or similar machinery is a plus.
Additional Comments:
Test: 2G & 3G; 2 1’’ plates, 1 backing plate, 2 runoff tabs per plate.
Items to be mindful of during testing: lack of fusion, lack or penetration, visual failure, lack of fusion in backplate, slag, slag in root, and undercuts.
