Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to conduct and manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for commercial, industrial, residential, and redevelopment properties. The successful candidate will conduct environmental investigations, evaluate potential environmental risks, prepare technical reports, and support clients through property acquisition, redevelopment, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, including:
  • Interviews with current and past property owners, occupants, and local officials
  • Identification and evaluation of recognized environmental conditions (RECs), controlled RECs, and historical RECs
  • Preparation of clear, accurate Phase I ESA reports
  • Plan and perform Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including:
  • Developing sampling and analysis plans
  • Conducting soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, and/or sediment sampling
  • Interpret environmental data and assess potential risks to human health and the environment.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, laboratories, regulators, and project teams.
  • Support environmental due diligence, regulatory permitting, remediation, and site redevelopment projects.
  • Prepare work plans, budgets, schedules, health and safety plans, and regulatory submittals.
  • Conduct fieldwork in accordance with company policies, project specifications, and applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate project status effectively.
  • Assist with business development, proposals, client presentations, and mentoring of junior staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASTM E1527 standards and applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling, environmental drilling, monitoring wells, and field documentation.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory analytical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • on
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform field activities in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, or other relevant professional certification.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, petroleum contamination, vapor intrusion, and brownfield redevelopment.
  • Familiarity with GIS, environmental databases, and groundwater modeling tools.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, project budgets, and client relationships.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry field equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional overnight travel and extended field assignments may be required.
  • Must be able to follow company health and safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
