Job Description
Maintenance Technician I – Wytheville, VA
We’re hiring a Maintenance Technician I to support daily equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in our Wytheville manufacturing facility. This is a hands‐on, multi‐craft role working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and machining systems. You’ll help keep production running safely and efficiently by diagnosing issues, repairing equipment, and supporting continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot machines and equipment while observing them in operation
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical components
- Inspect parts for wear, defects, and dimensional changes
- Adjust and repair functional parts, control instruments, and mechanical systems
- Replace defective components and install new structural or functional parts
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (lubrication, filter changes, belt checks)
- Work with PLCs (basic program/logic understanding), motor controls, sensors, relays, and electrical systems up to 480V
- Perform electro‐mechanical repairs and troubleshoot electrical issues
- Operate drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair parts
- Maintain housekeeping and organization of the maintenance shop and parts area
- Update maintenance software with accurate diagnostics, parts usage, and work order notes
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Associate’s degree or technical school training in applied trades (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, starters, sensors, relays, 480V)
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Ability to install, repair, and commission industrial equipment
- Basic machining and metalworking skills
- Ability to read technical documents, safety rules, and maintenance instructions
- Basic computer skills for work orders, data entry, and downtime logging
- Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to work independently
Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a manufacturing setting. You’ll work around moving machinery, heat, vibration, and loud noise. PPE is required. You must be comfortable standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
