What you'll need to succeed:
- Active New York State Teaching License with High School endorsement
- Current certifications qualifying you for an ED (Emotional Disabilities) classroom
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably in a high school environment
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to collaborate with educational teams and adapt to diverse student needs
- Passion for guiding adolescents toward success through positive behavior supports
Key responsibilities in this assignment:
- Lead the HS ED classroom for 11th and 12th graders, delivering individualized instruction and support
- Develop lesson plans tailored to varied learning styles and emotional needs
- Foster a safe, structured environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth
- Implement IEPs and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate and timely documentation
- Work closely with support staff, families, and related service providers
- Uphold all district, state, and federal guidelines for special education
This contract position, covering up to 32.5 hours per week, provides you the opportunity to engage with one cohort through the fall semester in a supportive school setting.
