Mechanical Assembly Technician

San Diego, CA 92121 (100% Onsite) | 2nd Shift | $20.10/hr

ATR International is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to support a client in San Diego, CA. This role performs a variety of operations to assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures, working from assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to build drawers, chassis, enclosures, and racks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures per assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Perform hand soldering, wire harnessing, and cabling on assembly units
• Determine and/or follow proper methods and sequence of operations for assigned tasks
• Perform routine go/no-go testing of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies
• Set up test devices using hand tools or automated test methods
• Document test results and maintain logs/records of malfunctions as needed
• Perform repair work and other duties as assigned
• Work on assignments of moderate complexity requiring sound judgment and initiative in resolving problems

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6+ months of mechanical assembly experience
• Working knowledge of component polarity
• Ability to read and work from schematics/drawings
• Experience with soldering, wire-wrapping, and cable harnessing
• Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with IPC-610 standards; SMT machine experience and ESD knowledge a plus
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week
• Shift: 2nd shift, 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM PST
• Pay Rate: $20.10/hr
• Physical Requirements: Push/pull/lift up to 25 lbs
