Job Title: Forklift Operator and Material Handler

Job Description

The Forklift Operator and Material Handler safely handles, moves, and stores materials within a clean, climate-controlled warehouse and production environment. This role focuses on delivering materials to the production floor, supporting material control and receiving activities, and maintaining orderly, efficient production and warehouse areas. The position also involves order picking and inventory-related tasks to ensure that all materials and deliveries accurately match purchase orders and production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver materials accurately and safely to the production floor according to production schedules and priorities.
  • Load and unload transport items using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Assist the material control department with receiving incoming materials, including identifying and verifying quantities of all deliveries.
  • Record inventory statuses and ensure that deliveries properly match purchase orders and documentation.
  • Handle, move, and store various non-hazardous and hazardous materials in accordance with safety procedures and company guidelines.
  • Perform order picking using RF scanners and other tools to fulfill internal and external orders.
  • Maintain general upkeep and cleanliness of production and warehouse areas to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Follow established inventory control processes to minimize errors and support accurate stock levels.
  • Prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with tight production schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including wearing eye protection and protective shoes and avoiding loose clothing.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve material issues and support continuous process improvement.
  • Support both first and second shift operations as needed, ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience operating forklifts, including stand-up and sit-down models, in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Experience using pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Experience in material handling and warehouse operations, including loading, unloading, and storing materials.
  • Order picking experience, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for order picking and inventory tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to keep work areas orderly and materials properly labeled and stored.
  • Ability to read and analyze information such as packing lists, purchase orders, and inventory documents.
  • Adept at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing work and meeting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely material delivery and order completion.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to dress code requirements.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, 100% climate-controlled facility designed for comfort and efficiency. The work environment is fast paced, with crucial deadlines and tight production schedules, requiring strong focus and time management. The production area consists of basic workspaces with tight quarters, where safe material movement is essential. Eye protection and protective shoes must be worn at all times, and loose clothing is not permitted to ensure safety around equipment. You will work with forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse tools during first or second shift hours, depending on assignment. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established processes to support smooth and reliable operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clemmons, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
