Job Description

We are seeking a Gluten Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in food testing, wet chemistry, and analytical instrumentation, with a proven ability to deliver accurate, timely test results that support customer claims and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Organize workload and prioritize samples to meet deadlines in a high-volume lab.
  • Execute laboratory methods as written and complete data interpretation, calculations, peer review, and report writing.
  • Comply with ISO 17025 and Medallion quality requirements and address quality control issues.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and tasks required by the Reliability Program.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with GMI and Medallion safety rules.
  • Provide cross-functional support across Medallion as business needs dictate and assist in projects for General Mills business units.
  • Support evaluation of new test methods and develop and maintain laboratory procedures.
  • Participate in customer and accreditation audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement training and cross-training plans for lab personnel.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in microbiology, food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in food testing within a commercial laboratory.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory skills, including accurate weighing, pipetting, quantitative transfers, solution prep, calculations, and result quality evaluation.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining common lab equipment.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Availability to flex schedule for longer shift hours or weekend work as business needs dictate.
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LabWare LIMS.

 

Schedule

  • Wednesday–Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Start date is flexible.

 

Additional Considerations

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship is available.
  • No domestic relocation support. No international relocation or international remote arrangements.
