Outpatient Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for Clinical Research & MNT

Position Summary:

RD Nutrition Consultants is seeking an Outpatient Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for a part-time role providing specialized nutrition counseling and clinical research support in the area. This position combines direct, outpatient care—delivering evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)—with active participation on a clinical research study team.

To support participant adherence and continuity of care, this role includes telehealth flexibility (via Zoom or phone) when study participants are unable to attend scheduled in-person clinic visits.

The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical assessment skills, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is skilled in weight management, malnutrition screening, and patient education.

Position Details

  • Hours: 15-20hrs/week 

  • Schedule: Part-time; Wednesday -Friday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM preferred.

  • Compensation: $40.00–$46.00/hour (DOE) + Travel Compensation paid at hourly rate 

  • Setting: Primary on-site outpatient facility with remote telehealth option (Zoom/Phone) for participant convenience

  • Visit structure:

    • Initial consultations and ongoing scheduled follow-up visits with research study participants

    • In-person clinical assessments with virtual flexibility when participant travel is restricted

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with the clinical research team to conduct participant consultations and scheduled follow-up care.

  • Review physician and advanced care provider recommendations to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans.

  • Measure participant BMI during clinic visits and deliver evidence-based guidance related to:

    • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) tailored to specific diagnoses

    • Weight management strategies and sustainable behavior change

    • Practical nutrition education for participants and family members on food selection

  • Perform Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) and review medical charts to screen for and identify signs of malnutrition.

  • Deliver remote counseling via Telehealth (Zoom/Phone) when participants are unavailable for in-clinic visits to ensure continuity of care.

  • Accurately document all encounter details in electronic health records (EHR) as well as standardized Clinical Research Forms (CRFs).

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all documentation, study protocol, and privacy standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program.

  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN).

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical or outpatient dietitian experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with electronic charting systems and telehealth platforms (Zoom/Phone).

  • Demonstrated experience in weight management, NFPE, and Medical Nutrition Therapy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.

  • Reliable transportation for on-site clinic hours.
