Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and improvement of power protection equipment, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels. This hands-on role combines mechanical design, prototyping, documentation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Develop mechanical designs and documentation for new and enhanced power protection equipment.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet customer and project requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and verification activities, incorporating feedback and making design improvements.
- Design and release mechanical prototypes, support fabrication, and lead improvements based on prototype results.
- Independently lead smaller engineering projects and coordinate activities required to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Service, and other business functions to ensure product designs support operational needs.
- Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization activities.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, to product designs.
- 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks CAD design software, including thermal and structural evaluation.
- Experience with PLM software.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Experience with test fixtures and fixture design.
- Familiarity with switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Strong workload management and organizational skills.
- Technical writing experience is a plus.
