Job Type: Full-Time \u007C Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Starting Pay: $28.00/hour + $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift (higher based on experience)
We are hiring an experienced Structural Steel Fitter / Layout Technician to support shop fabrication operations. This position is responsible for steel layout, fitting, assembly, dimensional checks, and preparing components for production.
Responsibilities- Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Perform layout, fitting, alignment, and assembly of structural steel
- Measure and mark materials according to job specifications
- Position and secure steel components for accurate assembly
- Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including a track torch
- Verify dimensions, fit-up, and component placement
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and specification compliance
- Coordinate with supervisors and fabrication team members to meet production schedules
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow established shop safety procedures and production practices
- Previous experience in structural steel fitting, layout, or fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Hands-on experience fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components
- Ability to set up and operate a track torch
- Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to work effectively with a team
- Willingness to follow required safety procedures
- AWS or other welding certifications are a plus
