Location: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Los Angeles, CA
Pay Rate: $33.95 per hour
Schedule: First Shift, 40 hours per week
Contract Length: Approximately 6 months, with potential for extension or direct hire

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Repair Technician II to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the mechanical and electrical equipment supporting airport operations at LAX.
This hands-on position involves preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment inspections, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and rapid response to service interruptions. The ideal candidate has at least three years of industrial maintenance experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to diagnose equipment issues in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment faults, malfunctions, and service interruptions to minimize operational downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-system issues and complete appropriate repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair motors, motor controls, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, variable frequency drives, and related components.
- Perform preventive, predictive, reactive, and corrective maintenance.
- Use manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, meters, testing equipment, and work orders to diagnose equipment problems.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and potential failures.
- Identify the root causes of recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, completed repairs, parts usage, and equipment conditions in the CMMS.
- Communicate equipment conditions, operational impacts, and repair updates to leadership.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to Maintenance Repair Technician I employees when needed.
- Collaborate with technicians, operations teams, and airport personnel to support daily operations.
- Follow all company and airport safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least three years of experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial equipment maintenance, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required airport security clearance.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an airport, industrial, manufacturing, material-handling, or equipment-maintenance environment.
- Experience working with 480-volt, three-phase motors and motor controls.
- Experience troubleshooting VFDs, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and related components.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance experience.
- Experience troubleshooting equipment using electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment independently.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Frequently climb, balance, work from ladders, and enter confined or restricted spaces.
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work around aircraft, vehicles, moving machinery, and heavy equipment.
- Maintain the vision, depth perception, color recognition, and hand-eye coordination required to perform maintenance safely.
Work Environment
This position operates within an active airport environment. Employees may be exposed to aircraft and vehicle traffic, moving mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, loud noise, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, heat, cold, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
Required personal protective equipment must be worn, and all company and airport safety requirements must be followed.
