Position Details
Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
Type of Employment: Full-time Independent Contractor, 40 hours/week
Period of Performance: One-year base plus four one-year option periods starting immediately, and final option year ending 06/30/2031.
Estimate Pay: $200-$250/hour
Working Hours
Clinic/OR is Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. CST, excluding federal holidays. Weekend calls are 4:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Monday. Phone consultation response within 15 minutes; callback onsite within 60 minutes. Off-hours on-call/call-back is required when the clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Summary of Duties
The Interventional Radiologist will provide physician services onsite for VA beneficiaries. Work includes full-spectrum IR procedures, approximately 90% direct patient care (procedures, on-call/call-back, follow-up, training) and approximately 10% administrative/quality activities. Physicians review consults/orders and next-day cases for at least two hours daily, provide pre/post-procedure consultation and follow-up, document care in the VA EHR, participate in QA/QI, peer review, and required meetings. Service while maintaining infection control standards and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Current, full, unrestricted medical license and American Board of Radiology certification.
Eligible for VA credentialing and privilege, with demonstrated proficiency in Interventional Radiology.
Current ACLS/BLS certifications, DEA registration, NPI, and required CME.
Fluent in written and spoken English and able to complete all required VA training.
Meet federal healthcare eligibility, immunization, screening, and infection-control requirements.

Attire
The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the environment in which the employee will be performing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform interventional radiology procedures, including biopsies, angiography, embolization, drainage, GI tube placement, and other applicable CPT-listed procedures.
Conduct patient consultations, evaluations, and treatment planning.
Communicate test results and care recommendations to patients and referring providers.
Ensure medication reconciliation and compliance with discharge instructions.
Complete accurate, timely EHR documentation for all patient encounters and procedures.
Participate in on-call coverage and respond to callbacks as required.
Maintain QA/QI documentation and support continuous performance-improvement initiatives.
Report patient safety events and participate in peer-review activities.
Attend PI/QA meetings, Tumor Board conferences, and the IR lecture series.
