About the Position

Our nursing and medical support professionals play an essential role in coordinating medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for individuals receiving care through our programs.

In this role, you will help provide a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment while working alongside a collaborative team of behavioral health professionals. You will have the opportunity to use your clinical knowledge and skills while helping individuals access the medical, psychiatric, social, and community-based resources they need. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful, relationship-based work and wants to make a direct impact in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health and behavioral health challenges.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Participating in medical treatment planning and monitoring client progress toward identified goals
  • Providing coordination and support for medical, social, and psychiatric services
  • Assessing client needs and providing symptom assessment and management when clinically appropriate
  • Monitoring and communicating changes in client status to the appropriate treatment team members
  • Responding to client needs during urgent or crisis situations
  • Assisting with the administration of prescription and nonprescription medications, within the scope of licensure and applicable regulations
  • Instructing and supporting clients in the self-administration of medications, as appropriate
  • Providing or coordinating training related to CPR, first aid, medication management, and infection control
  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring procedures related to the safe administration and storage of medications
  • Maintaining accurate and timely client documentation
  • Connecting clients with appropriate providers, community resources, and support systems
  • Helping clients access resources that support daily living, stability, independence, and overall well-being
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, person-centered care
  • Performing other related duties in support of the program and the overall mission of West River Mental Health

Education & Experience

Candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of South Dakota
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in the State of South Dakota
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification, as applicable to the position
