DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position plays a key role in supporting forest management, public service, and daily operations across the Loyalsock Forest District. The role assists the District Forester by supervising staff and overseeing programs. It also involves guiding work in forestry, energy resources, public outreach, and fire protection. As a Forest Assistant Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Oversight: Manage and guide foresters, technicians, and other assigned employees
- Forest Planning: Develop and track goals for forest treatments and coordinate field activities
- Resource Review: Prepare and assess timber sale documents and resource management records
- Public Outreach: Support district outreach efforts through events, presentations, and community programs
- Fire Management: Direct fire protection activities and coordinate training, reporting, and prevention efforts
- Program Coordination: Work with park staff, agencies, and local governments on shared forest programs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed during emergencies
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, depending on business needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dushore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Forester (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience as a Forest Nursery Assistant Manager (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license, of the proper class for the vehicles operated, as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
