Job Summary

RN Cardiac OR - scrub & circulate

In-Office | Rochester, NY, United States

  • 12-hour shifts, 7a - 7p

  • 2 years of experience required

  • Experience in level 1 trauma OR is preferred

  • Must be able to scrub AND circulate

  • AHA BLS and ACLS required

  • NYS RN license required


Responsibilities

  • Scrub and circulate cardiac OR cases, ensuring sterility and equipment readiness.

  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate updates to the team.

  • Assist with preparing and verifying instruments, implants, and supplies before incision.

  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards at all times.

  • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to optimize workflow and efficiency.

  • Document case milestones and ensure accurate record-keeping for each procedure.

  • Uphold accountability for personal performance metrics and contribute to pipeline visibility.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to standardization efforts.

  • Maintain a growth mindset by seeking continuing education and professional development.

  • Support post-operative debriefs, equipment checks, and turnover between cases.

  • Demonstrate adaptability to high-visibility work environment with measurable targets.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license with current cardiac OR experience.

  • Proficiency in aseptic technique and instrument handling.

  • Experience with intraoperative monitoring and patient status reporting.

  • Strong collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia, with clear communication.

  • Compliance with hospital safety policies and regulatory standards.

  • Certified Scrub Tech or circulating nurse certification preferred.

  • Ability to verify implants, instruments, and supplies pre-incision.

  • Demonstrated accountability for personal performance metrics and transparency.

  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.

  • Accurate documentation of case milestones and turnover activities.
