Paraeducator – School-Based | Up to $25/hr | Tacoma, WA
Up to $25/hr | Monday–Friday | K–12 School Setting
Looking for a paraeducator job in Tacoma, WA with a consistent weekday schedule? Join a local school program where you’ll work directly with students who need additional academic, behavioral, or personal support during the school day.
You may provide one-on-one support to an individual student or assist several students in a classroom. Assignments may include students from prekindergarten through adult-transition programs with needs ranging from mild to severe.

What You’ll Do
- Help students participate in classroom instruction and daily school activities
- Reinforce academic lessons, classroom expectations, and social skills
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support based on student needs
- Follow Individualized Education Programs, 504 Plans, and behavior support plans
- Observe student behavior and communicate concerns or progress to the supervising teacher
- Redirect challenging behaviors and reinforce positive choices
- Prepare or modify instructional materials as directed
- Accompany and supervise students during meals, breaks, transitions, and other activities
- Support students participating in prescribed occupational, physical, or speech therapy services
- Assist with mobility, hygiene, toileting, diapering, grooming, or other personal care when required by the assignment
- Protect each student’s privacy, safety, and dignity
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
- Previous school-based experience is preferred but not required
- Experience working with children or individuals with special needs is helpful
- Patient and dependable approach to working with students
- Ability to remain calm when responding to challenging situations
- Ability to follow instructions and apply feedback from teachers and supervisors
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work at different school sites based on assignment needs
