Registered Nurse (RN) – Endoscopy (Endo)

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Endoscopy provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists physicians during endoscopic interventions, administers medications including moderate sedation as appropriate, monitors patient status, and provides post-procedure recovery care while ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.

Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

• Current BLS certification required.

• ACLS certification preferred or required per facility policy.

• Moderate Sedation certification preferred or required per facility policy.

• Recent Endoscopy, GI Lab, PACU, ICU, ER, or procedural nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assess patients before endoscopic procedures.

• Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and response to sedation throughout procedures.

• Administer medications, IV therapies, and moderate sedation as appropriate.

• Provide post-procedure monitoring, recovery care, and patient education.

• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.

• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.

• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
