RN – Operating Room (OR) Circulator

Location: Ganado, AZ
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 5×8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) for a 13-week contract assignment. The RN will serve as an OR Circulator, providing perioperative nursing care and supporting safe, efficient surgical procedures in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Serve as the circulating RN and coordinate activities within the operating room.
• Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, consent, allergies, and required documentation.
• Participate in surgical time-outs and maintain compliance with patient-safety protocols.
• Monitor patient condition and promptly communicate changes to the surgical team.
• Maintain a safe, sterile, organized, and efficient operating-room environment.
• Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and transfers.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other surgical team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely perioperative documentation.
• Perform and verify counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other surgical supplies.
• Assist with specimen identification, labeling, handling, and documentation according to established procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Follow infection-control practices, safety standards, and facility policies.
• Assist with operating-room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Provide or participate in patient and family education as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Previous Operating Room / Perioperative nursing experience required.
• OR Circulator experience strongly preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and infection-control practices.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia staff, surgical technologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to the needs of a Critical Access Hospital.
