Manufacturing Operations Supervisor — Plastics Processing

Picture your afternoon starting at 3:00 PM. You step onto the plant floor, greet a tight-knit team of 3–6 operators, review the production plan, and walk the lines to confirm safety, quality, and changeovers are on track. You’re a hands-on leader—when someone is out, you jump in and run the line yourself. By 1:00 AM, the shift’s paperwork, quality checks, and housekeeping are wrapped, and tomorrow’s priorities are set.

Compensation, Schedule, and Benefits

• Pay Range: $28 – $32.25 per hour; overtime-eligible.
• Schedule: 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM (10-hour days, 4 or 5 days/week as demand dictates).
• Benefits: Full benefits package, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off (PTO).

The Role

Own safety, quality, and output for your shift while directly supervising and training hourly team members. Flexibility is essential—expect various shifts, 40+ hours per week, and some weekends as needed. You will report to the Production Manager.

What You’ll Do

• Champion PPE compliance and maintain a spotless safety record and workspace.
• Complete shift production and reporting documentation accurately and on time.
• Immediately escalate unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, or injuries to the Production Manager.
• Ensure all products meet quality specifications and adhere to the product sampling schedule.
• Support the Preventive Maintenance program and practice proper forklift operation, including PM routines.
• Meet wired plant compliance metrics and housekeeping standards.
• Allocate people and materials to hit the shift’s production plan and standard efficiencies on every line.
• Train team members on safety, quality, and role-specific tasks; build skills through company training programs.
• Coordinate with Maintenance or troubleshoot process/mechanical issues to maximize uptime and safety.
• Drive rapid, well-organized product changeovers.
• Function as a working supervisor—operate the line if a production employee calls off.

Your Toolkit

• Mechanical troubleshooting and basic repair aptitude.
• Leadership, team supervision, and on-the-job training capabilities.
• Motivational presence and clear communication across levels.
• Basic computer proficiency and sound decision-making/problem-solving skills.
• Manufacturing know-how; plastic extrusion experience is a plus.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: 1–2 years as a line operator or related manufacturing experience.
• Preferred: Supervisory training or equivalent leadership experience.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Demands

• Stand and remain mobile for at least 8 continuous hours.
• Perform physical work for extended periods in varying temperatures.
• Use hands, arms, and legs to handle and move finished goods.
• Full range of motion, including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and mounting/dismounting industrial equipment and vehicles.
