RN – Director of Nursing (DON)

Location: Steamboat, CO
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 8-Hour Days / Flexible Schedule
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with strong nursing leadership and management experience for a 13-week contract assignment.

Director of Nursing (DON) experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, clinical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be comfortable overseeing nursing operations and staff in a healthcare facility.

Requirements
  • Current, active RN license.
  • Previous nursing management or leadership experience required.
  • Director of Nursing (DON) experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage staffing, clinical operations, and nursing personnel.
Schedule & On-Call Requirements

The Director of Nursing will participate in an on-call rotation Monday through Sunday, 5:00 PM–8:00 AM, including weekends.

  • On-call compensation: $500/week.
  • Call-back hours: Paid at the normal hourly rate.
  • Schedule must provide appropriate coverage for the facility's night operations and allow the DON to be available onsite when required.
  • Schedule flexibility is available within the following options, subject to facility coverage needs.
Option 1
  • Two 12-hour shifts
  • Two 8-hour shifts
  • Four-day workweek
Option 2
  • Monday & Wednesday: 4:00 AM–2:30 PM
  • Two additional scheduled days: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Director of Nursing Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate nursing team members.
  • Ensure high-quality resident care and oversee assessments, care plans, and clinical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and facility regulations.
  • Support survey readiness and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Monitor quality measures, infection control, medication management, and performance-improvement programs.
  • Develop and manage nursing staff schedules to ensure appropriate clinical coverage.
  • Investigate incidents and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Address resident and family concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, administration, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee nursing department operations, policies, procedures, and resource management.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and collaborative nursing environment.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
