Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) – School-Based | Up to $30/hr | Tacoma, WA
Up to $30/hr | Monday–Friday | No Nights or Weekends
Looking for an RBT job in Tacoma, WA with a consistent school-day schedule? Join a local school program where you’ll help students manage behavioral challenges, participate in classroom activities, and work toward goals established in their individualized support plans.
You may work one-on-one with a student or support multiple students in a general or special education classroom. Assignments may include students from prekindergarten through adult-transition programs with behavioral needs ranging from mild to severe.

What You’ll Do
- Implement behavior support strategies under appropriate supervision
- Provide one-on-one or small-group behavioral and academic support
- Reinforce positive behaviors and help students develop appropriate replacement behaviors
- Follow Individualized Education Programs, 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Collect and document behavioral data accurately
- Maintain current service logs for assigned students
- Assist BCBAs with observations, data collection, and student assessments
- Use prompting, redirection, and positive reinforcement strategies
- Support students as they transition between special education and general education settings
- Supervise students in the classroom and during breaks, meals, transitions, and other school activities
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, BCBAs, and district staff
- Assist with toileting, diapering, or other personal care when required by the assignment
- Maintain student confidentiality, privacy, safety, and dignity
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active Registered Behavior Technician certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- Current RBT certification on voluntary inactive status may also be considered
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Previous ABA experience with children in a home, school, or clinical setting is preferred
- Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures during challenging behaviors
- Ability to accept and apply feedback from supervisors
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work at different school sites based on assignment needs
