The Air Quality and Noise Department Manager is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of a department within a regional environmental services practice. This role includes executing business strategy, developing high-performing teams, and driving overall department performance.
The Department Manager will lead the team in a dynamic and profitable manner, with a strong focus on client satisfaction, quality delivery, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to department staff, including assigning work, managing workloads, and reviewing performance
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of team members across projects
  • Drive profitable growth of the department, including managing staffing levels and billable utilization
  • Support and implement organizational initiatives and programs
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance for air quality and noise-related projects
  • Manage department budgets and financial performance targets
  • Prepare and present workload and financial reports to leadership
  • Lead recruitment, training, development, and retention of team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and mentorship
  • Collaborate with project managers, business development, and proposal teams to secure new work
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and quality standards
  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Support diversity and inclusion initiatives within the team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental consulting, design, or project management
  • Prior leadership or team management experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present complex information to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead and manage change
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
