Diversified Labeling Solutions, Inc. (DLS) is currently seeking a Production Manager to lead our Duluth, GA flexographic pressure sensitive label converting team.  

 

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement of the production team across two shifts.  The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys developing people and is motivated by continuous improvement and operational excellence.  This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the success and growth of our facility while making a meaningful impact on daily operations and long-term performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the daily operations of our flexographic, digital printing, and finishing departments, ensuring production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Develop and manage production schedules and weekly press capacity plans to optimize workflow, maximize efficiency and effectively control labor and overtime costs.
  • Partner closely with Customer Service, Prepress, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize work orders and ensure on-time delivery commitments are consistently met.
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of production equipment and processes, providing leadership and support for equipment troubleshooting, maintenance and continuous operational improvement.
  • Coach and develop production personnel by providing technical guidance, performance feedback and problem-solving support to ensure efficient and consistent execution of manufacturing operations.
  • Review and approve job setups and production readiness to ensure adherence to customer specifications, quality standards and production requirements.
  • Conduct regular shop floor audits and production reviews to monitor quality, safety, efficiency and compliance with established operating procedures.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and administer corrective actions, coaching and recognition programs in accordance with company policies and best practices.
  • Monitor and process procurement of production consumables, including inks, chemicals, shop supplies and equipment repair parts to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Review and approve employee time records and ensure accurate payroll and labor reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to establish priorities, achieve business objectives and promote a positive, high-performance workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations and applicable environmental requirements.
  • Serve as a visible leader within the facility, promoting open communication, employee engagement and a commitment to operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, preferably within printing, label converting or related industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of flexographic and digital printing processes, press operations, color management, quality systems and label finishing equipment.
  • Basic college-level math skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, manufacturing ERP systems and production planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing productivity, labor utilization, quality and operational performance metrics.
  • Flexibility to support varying schedules and production demands as business needs require.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and employee development skills, with a track record of building engaged and accountable teams.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands and consistently meet deadlines in a dynamic production environment.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar operational excellence methodologies preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to maintaining a culture centered on safety, quality and accountability.
  • Ability to regularly work within a manufacturing environment, including moving throughout the production floor and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
