Site Laborer

(Baytown, Texas): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Site Laborer / Technician to assist with the hands-on installation of various geosynthetic materials and perform general labor duties at industrial and construction job sites. This position will receive training in geosynthetic installation, welding support, quality control, and other field operations.

Essential Duties:

• Fill sandbags and use sandbags to anchor liners against wind uplift.

• Assist with the hands-on installation of various geosynthetic materials.

• Move extension cords, generators, equipment, and materials to support field welders.

• Pull liner sheets from large rolls and properly align them on the ground.

• Clean liners and liner seams using brooms, rags, and other approved tools.

• Learn to tack/fuse overlapped liner sheets using a hot-air blowing device.

• Learn to buff seam areas using a small angle grinder and appropriate sanding discs.

• Learn basic extrusion and fusion welding techniques to support experienced welders.

• Assist with quality control testing and learn basic testing procedures.

• Learn to drill holes into concrete using a hammer drill and install anchor bolts.

• Learn to fabricate batten strips to fit various structures.

• Load and unload construction trailers.

• Perform general job site housekeeping and maintain a clean, safe work area.

• Follow all company, site-specific, and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and instructions.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the field supervisor or trainer.

Requirements/Skills:

• Ability to read and write English sufficiently to complete required safety and site-specific training.

• Safety Essentials or Basic Plus certification is a plus; training will be provided.

• Ability to successfully complete required site-specific safety classes.

• Must be able to pass required background screening for plant and jobsite entry.

• Must provide valid employment eligibility documentation in accordance with Form I-9.

• Must be willing and able to comply with applicable pre-employment, post-employment, and random drug-screening requirements.

• Must demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety and follow all safety procedures.

• Previous construction, industrial, geosynthetic, welding, or general labor experience is a plus but not required.

• Must be dependable, willing to learn, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Must have reliable transportation to the jobsite and be willing to travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 45 pounds.

• Ability to repeatedly shovel, fill, lift, carry, and position sandbags.

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and walk up slopes and uneven surfaces.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions.

• Ability to work safely around construction equipment, generators, welding equipment, and other jobsite hazards.

• Ability to travel and work at various jobsite locations as needed.
