About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Toolroom Machinist III to join our Toolroom team. This position is responsible for designing, building, repairing, and maintaining custom tooling, fixtures, jigs, dies, and prototypes that support manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive machining experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently from solid models, sketches, and engineering drawings. This role plays a critical part in supporting production, improving processes, and ensuring tooling and equipment perform efficiently and accurately.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work from solid models, blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to create or modify prototypes, tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Design, build, repair, and maintain custom machine shop tooling and equipment.
  • Program, set up, and operate lathes, grinders, milling machines, and other machining equipment.
  • Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machine setups required to manufacture precision components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment as needed.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and report defective materials, tooling concerns, or questionable conditions.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering and production teams on new projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to CNC Toolroom Machinist I and II team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling, machining processes, quality, and efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support production and business objectives.


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of machining, toolmaking, or related machine shop experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and solid models.
  • Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC and manual machining equipment.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, materials, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving dimensions, tolerances, and machine setups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.


Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and industrial environment.
  • Regular exposure to machinery, moving mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, sharp objects, and vibration.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
