Position Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Nurse Educator to provide training and education to Home Health Aides (HHAs). The Nurse Educator will be responsible for delivering classroom and hands-on instruction, ensuring HHA trainees develop the knowledge and practical skills necessary to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to clients in the home.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching and developing healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs for Home Health Aides in accordance with applicable state and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide classroom instruction covering topics such as personal care, infection control, safety, nutrition, client rights, communication, emergency procedures, and basic health care practices.
  • Demonstrate and teach proper techniques for activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Provide hands-on skills training and evaluate trainees' ability to safely perform required HHA duties.
  • Educate HHAs on recognizing changes in a client's condition and appropriately reporting concerns to the supervising nurse or care team.
  • Reinforce proper infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain accurate training, attendance, competency, and evaluation records.
  • Assess trainee performance through written examinations, skills demonstrations, and ongoing observation.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional instruction to trainees who require further development.
  • Ensure training materials, curriculum, and instructional practices remain current and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Promote professionalism, client dignity, confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to identify training needs and improve HHA education programs.
  • Participate in orientation and continuing education programs for existing staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing may be considered based on experience and regulatory requirements.
  • Prior experience working in home health, home care, long-term care, community health, or a similar setting preferred.
