Position Description
A Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA is responsible for leading and/or supporting the most complex database upgrade projects, modification, installation, testing, implementation, maintenance and enhancements of new or existing system software products. This classification must plan, install, configure, test, implement and manage core database products, software products in support of the County’s database architecture and business needs. Special organizational or functional industry position titles for Systems Programmer/DBA include, but are not limited to, DB2 Systems Programmer/DBA, IMS Systems Programmer/DBA and ADABAS/NATURAL Systems Programmer/DBA.
Skills Required
- Skills in assessing, planning and migrating DBs to Cloud Environment
- Skills in transferring, validating and maintaining DBs in a Cloud environment
- Skills in Installing, Configuring and Supporting Oracle Enterprise Edition Database 19c and 21c as a backend for both public facing web applications and internal data warehousing on Linux operating system.
- Skills in Installing and configuring MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
- Skills in Installing and Supporting Microsoft SQL server instances.
- knowledge in Configuring and supporting Oracle Application Express (APEX), Oracle gateways connecting SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL server instances to the Oracle database.
- knowledge in Oracle Spatial implementation and support.
- Mastery in building custom extracts, transform and load (ETL) utilities with cron jobs and crontab, SQLLoader and PL/SQL.
- Skills in Database Administration services such as patch install, cloning, backup and recovery of databases and script development (Windows Batch Script, Unix shell scripting and PL/SQL).
- Skills in Troubleshooting and resolution of ETL Jobs
- Skills in setting up connectivity to remote database servers using Stelo Data Replication software for full and incremental data transfer, monitoring and resolving issues.
Experience Required
- 4+ years of DB Administration experience, specifically in a Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL/MS SQL Server environments.
- 3+ years of experience in transferring, validating, maintaining DBs in cloud environment.
- 5+ years of experience utilizing StarQuest Stelo Data Replication software.
Education Required
- This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or engineering field.
